Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers arrested three Singaporean men for suspected drug activities on 21 February 2022. A total of about 5,268g of cannabis and 11g of ‘Ice’, with a total estimated street value of $160,000, were seized during the operation. The seizure of 5,268g of cannabis can feed the addiction of about 750 abusers for a week.
2. In the late evening of 21 February, CNB officers arrested a 60-year-old man in the vicinity of Fernvale Link, and 93g of cannabis was recovered from him. CNB officers also raided a residential unit in the same vicinity. A 25-year-old and a 62-year-old were arrested, and multiple packets containing about 5,132g of cannabis were seized from the residential unit.

3. The 60-year-old man was escorted to a vehicle parked in the same vicinity of Fernvale Link, and a total of about 42g of cannabis and 11g of ‘Ice’ were seized from the vehicle. The 25-year-old man was also escorted to his residential unit in the vicinity of Whampoa Drive, where about 0.5g of cannabis were recovered from the unit.

4. Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.
5. Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
