Suspected Drug Trafficker Arrested; Drugs Seized Enough to Feed 1,280 Abusers for a Week

        On 17 April 2024, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) conducted an operation which saw the seizure of about 2,682g of heroin, 20g of ‘Ecstasy’, 10g of ‘Ice’, 10g of cannabis and two Erimin-5 tablets.  A 45-year-old Singaporean man was arrested for suspected drug trafficking.  The seizure of about 2,682g of heroin, 10g of ‘Ice’ and 10g of cannabis can feed the addiction of 1,280 abusers for a week.  The drugs seized are estimated to be worth about $286,000.

2.     In the morning of 17 April, CNB officers arrested a 45-year-old Singaporean man in the vicinity of MacPherson Lane.  Officers seized a black pouch slung across the man’s body which was later found to contain about 239g of heroin.

3.     CNB officers proceeded to raid the man’s hideout located in the vicinity of Jalan Chengkek.  From a search of the hideout, officers recovered about 2,443g of heroin, 20g of ‘Ecstasy’, 10g of ‘Ice’, 10g of cannabis and two Erimin-5 tablets.

4.     Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of heroin, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

5.       Investigations into the drug activities of the suspect are ongoing.
