Large Seizure of Heroin in CNB Operation; Drugs Seized Enough to Feed 1,550 Abusers for a Week

       On 30 August 2024, a raid conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) saw the seizure of a large amount of heroin, ‘Ice’ and other drugs that could feed the addiction of about 1,550 drug abusers for a week.  The estimated worth of the variety of drugs seized in this raid is about $343,000.

2.     In the afternoon of 30 August, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Bedok North Avenue 4 for suspected drug activities.  A 38-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were arrested within the unit.  Both are Singaporeans.  A total of about 2.8kg of heroin, 385g of ‘Ice’, 51g of ‘Ecstasy’, 24g of cannabis, 9g of ketamine and 13 Erimin-5 tablets were recovered from within the unit.

3.     Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin”, or more than 250g of methamphetamine, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

4.     Investigations into the drug activities of the arrested suspects are ongoing.
