Four Arrested for Drug Offences; 'Ice' and Heroin Seized

        Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers arrested four Singaporeans, aged between 61 and 67, for suspected drug activities on 22 April 2022. A total of about 735g of heroin and 254g of ‘Ice’, with an estimated street value of $90,000, were seized during the operation. The seizure of 735g of heroin can feed the addiction of about 350 abusers for a week, and the seizure of 254g of ‘Ice’ can feed the addiction of about 150 abusers.

2.           In the afternoon of 22 April, CNB officers arrested a 61-year-old Singapore man in the vicinity of Serangoon Road. About 245g of ‘Ice’ was recovered from him, along with cash amounting to close to $3,400.

3.           In a follow-up operation, CNB officers arrested two Singaporean men, aged 65 and 67, and a 65-year-old Singaporean woman in the same vicinity of Serangoon Road. A total of about 521g of heroin, 3g of ‘Ice’ and cash amounting to more than $1,500 were recovered from the 67-year-old man. The 65-year-old man and woman were escorted to their hideout in a private residential estate in the same vicinity, where about 214g of heroin, 6g of ‘Ice’ and various drug paraphernalia were seized from the residential unit. Cash amounting to more than $12,000 were also recovered from the 65-year-old man.

4.           Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin (diamorphine) or 250g of methamphetamine, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty. 

5.           Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
