The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 67 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide anti-drug operation from 21 to 26 April 2024. A total of about 572g of cannabis, 222g of heroin, 55g of ‘Ice’, half-a-gramme of ketamine, 19 Erimin-5 tablets, five ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, three bottles of liquid suspected to contain GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) and a bottle of methadone were seized. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of about $62,000. The youngest arrested in this island-wide operation was a 16-year-old female Singaporean for suspected drug abuse.
2. Some of the areas covered during this island-wide operation included Aljunied, Beach Road, Bukit Batok, Bukit Merah and Corporation Drive.

3. In the evening hours of 21 April, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Bukit Batok West Avenue 4 and arrested a 50-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug trafficking. From a search of the unit, officers recovered about 133g of cannabis, 10 Erimin-5 tablets, three ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, a small amount of ‘Ice’, various drug paraphernalia and cash amounting to $9,081. CNB officers then escorted the man to his rental car parked nearby and recovered about 33g of heroin and two ‘Ecstasy’ tablets from within the car.

4. CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Corporation Drive on 23 April and arrested a 46-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug trafficking. A search of the unit found about 314g of cannabis, including a whole cannabis leaf, a small amount of ‘Ice’ and various drug paraphernalia.

5. Assistant Commissioner Sng Chern Hong, Deputy Director CNB (Policy & Administration), said:
“Possession of any part of the cannabis plant is an offence. Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, ‘cannabis’ means any part of a plant of the genus Cannabis, or any part of such plant, by whatever name it is called. CNB would like to caution members of the public, that they should not purchase and keep any such part or parts of cannabis plants as it will be an offence under the law.”
6. Under Section 8(a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person to have in his or her possession any part of a plant of the genus Cannabis. If a person is found guilty of possession of cannabis where the quantity is less than 330g, he or she may be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years imprisonment or $20,000 fine or both.
7. Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.
