Missed the Drug Victims Remembrance Day 2024 main observance event and exhibition at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza? You can still catch the exhibition at eight different locations around Singapore from May to July 2024.
To spread awareness on how victims of drug abuse are affected, we set up interactive mini exhibitions at Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), government premises and community spaces islandwide.
While drug abusers suffer from physiological and psychological effects on their bodies, the detrimental impact of drug abuse extends to those around them too. Visitors read real victim stories and gained a deeper understanding of the trauma and pain that the loved ones of drug abusers endure, and made their own promise to their loved ones to stay drug-free.
The inaugural Drug Victims Remembrance Day exhibition took place at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from 17 to 19 May this year. Attendees immersed themselves in multi-sensorial installations like the home exhibition and interactive exhibitions such as “Victim Stories” and “True Drug Cases”, where visceral depictions of real-life drug abuse were put on display.
The observance was also graced by K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law, who emphasised the importance of Singapore’s stance against drugs.
Every year on 26 June, Singapore holds the DrugFreeSG Light-Up to commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as the 'World Drug Day'.
Iconic buildings and structures around Singapore will be illuminated in green and or white, the colours of the anti-drug ribbon, to symbolise the community’s stand against drug abuse and to rally the nation’s support for the drug-free cause. Don’t miss our beautiful skyline on this night!
