Q1: I have sent in my application, may I find out the status?
A1: Shortlisted candidates will be notified to attend an interview with us. If an applicant's background and experience do not match our current needs, his/her resume will be retained for future openings for up to six months.
Q2: Are there any height and weight requirements for Senior Narcotics Officers and Narcotics Officers?
A2: We do not stipulate any minimum height and weight requirements for Senior Narcotics Officers/Narcotics Officers. However, candidates must be physically fit and able to meet other entry requirements.
Q3: What are the requirements on eyesight?
A3: Applicants must not exceed 800 degrees for each eye and they should not have colour-blindness.
Q4: I do not possess 5 'O' levels but have an ITE qualification. Am I eligible to apply as a Narcotics Officer?
A4: An ITE graduate with ITC or CBS qualifications may join us as a Narcotics Officer.
Q5: I have served my NS in Police. Do I still need to undergo the basic training if I am selected to be a Narcotics Officer?
A5: The requirement for re-training will be on a case-by-case basis as training syllabus in the Academy may vary over time.
Q6: Can I serve my NS with CNB?
A6: No, applicants must have completed their NS (with MINDEF/Police/SCDF) before applying for a position in the Bureau.
Q7: Can I join CNB first and switch to a career with the Police later?
A7: CNB and Singapore Police Force are different services under the Ministry of Home Affairs. We would encourage applicants to be sure of their choice before applying for a career with either service.
Q8: Will there be training provided and how long is the training?
A8: Yes, basic training will be provided to all new officers in the Home Team Academy. For Senior Narcotics Officers, the training period is approximately 9 months, whereas Narcotics Officers undergo a 28-week training.
